This discussion paper outlines possible changes to the regulatory framework for oil and gas activities in British Columbia. It seeks public input as part of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Improvement Initiative (OGRII).

The initial phase of OGRII consultations took place during the summer of 2004 to exchange information and identify issues. In this discussion paper, using a results-based regulatory framework, the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources and the Oil and Gas Commission highlight potential solutions to issues. The discussion paper includes additional background information in response to questions raised by stakeholders during the 2004 stakeholder meetings.
